What is a Mother-touch session?

 What is a holistic prenatal and postpartum bodywork treatment and how is it different than a prenatal or postpartum massage?


     Hi my name is Michele Pedersen and my passion is to support women in having easier, more connected, supported, and empowering pregnancy, births, and postpartum experiences. My experience with pregnancy and birth have served to fuel this passion and I want to share what has worked for me with you! I have had the opportunity to study with incredibly knowledgeable and experienced teachers in this field , worked with over a thousand pregnant and postpartum women and have integrated all I have learned into holistic bodywork sessions, called Mother-touch, so that you and your baby can benefit from having a more joyous, fulfilling, and empowering experience. Prenatal massage is an excellent way to reduce stress and pregnancy related tension in your body and I incorporate this into my sessions.  Mother-touch is for moms who are wanting a more well-rounded pregnancy and postpartum experience and to address more than just one aspect of pregnancy. If you feel like you could use a little more guidance or support during this time in your life, these sessions may be just what you are seeking. What you will experience in a 90 minute session with me is you will create a pregnancy and postpartum plan, which is basically establishing what your wants, needs, desires and intentions are for your pregnancy, birth, and postpartum time(includes specific postpartum bodywork, scar massage). I can guide you to helpful resources that are in alignment with your goals. You will create weekly goals related to your intentions and meet twice a month to do a holistic bodywork and coaching session. Together we will focus on releasing your “stuck” or painful areas, from accidents, injuries, past birth traumas, etc. to make room for more ease and connection with your body and baby, every step of the way. These personalized sessions will include keeping a sacred pregnancy journal, doing a debrief of your week, email correspondence, hands on fascial release, craniosacral therapy, reiki, massage to help bring more ease to your nervous system and release any past or current stress, energetic , mental or physical blocks that can adversely affect your pregnancy, birth, and postpartum experience. I will include a nutritional overview for pregnancy and postpartum, and you can incorporate what works for you into your plan. I will go through a specific series of yoga Asanas and movements designed to support your baby in moving into and staying in optimal birth position. Together we will create supportive pregnancy and birthing affirmations you can record  and/or your partner can say to you during pregnancy and birth. I will give you a daily relaxation exercise that prepares you for birth. You will have the opportunity to do fear release sessions and a couples preparent bonding session if desired. You can begin these sessions as soon as you have entered your second trimester. If you are already into your 3rd trimester, just a few bodywork sessions can be incredibly helpful.
